On Eagles Wings: An African American Leadership Program
on Disability
On Eagles Wings Leadership Training has been implemented
by IPSII Inc. since 2003 and graduated over 55 participants. All
participants report an increase in their Independence, Productivity, Self
Determination, Integration & Inclusion [IPSII].

Eagles Wings

Is an
Introductory Leadership Program for African American adults with
developmental disabilities and African American parents who have African
American children under the age of 18 yrs. with developmental disabilities
-
Teaches
participants, introductory leadership skills and the process of developing
positive partnership with elected and other individuals who make the policy
decisions about services that participants and their families may be
eligible for.

Is funded in
part by the Minnesota Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities
funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services Administration on Developmental Disabilities under provision of P.L
Training
Topics include:

Early
Childhood, IDEA, and Transition Special Education Services;

Supportive Employment;
-
Supportive Living;
-
County
Based Services; and
-
Introductory Leadership Skills.
Participants
will learn:

How to access services;
-
How to recognize and improve the
services they receive;

Who within the service delivery
system can they contact for more information
-
Who to contact about their
concerns about their services
-
And what services and supports
that they may be eligible to receive.
