         Partners in Policymaking ®  was created in Minnesota by the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities in  1987. Partners is an innovative, competency based leadership training program for adults with developmental disabilities and parents of young children with disabilities.

OUR MISSION    Independence, Productivity, Self Determination, Integration &Inclusion (IPSII)  for People with Disabilities and Their Families.    Our Board of Directors is a mix of individuals who are passionate about creating change within our community, creating welcoming schools, neighborhoods and workplaces for individuals with disabilities.  Each board member serves a three year term. Our Board Members are Parents of children and young adults with disabilities Individuals with disabilities Service providers to people with disabilities and their families Several of our Board Members are graduates of the Partners in Policymaking  program     OUR NON-PROFIT   Is a 501 (C) (3) tax exempt organization, comprised of people with disabilities and their families. We are customer driven to ensure cultural competency and best practice. We achieve our mission through our leadership trainings, analysis of public policy, and outreach to traditionally underserved communities. All of our materials are free of charge All of our trainings are free of charge We provide reimbursement for child care and mileage     WE BELIEVE                         Each person a unique individual, a citizen, having leadership potential no matter their challenges in life; All communities depend on the capacity of people, on their fullness, on their possibility. Training program dates:  Sat. 2.7.09; Sat. 2.21.09; Sat. 3.7.09; Wed. 3.18.09; Sat. 3.28.09 Training program time:  8:30 am-2:30 pm Training supports: A light breakfast and lunch will be provided Participants will receive a $50 stipend at the successful completion of each training Eligible mileage will be reimbursed Limited personal care assistance and facilitation will be provided Training Site: All trainings are held at Jordan New Life Community Church 1922 25th Ave. North  Minneapolis, MN  55411 Questions: Call Julie Kenney for applications at 612.861.3215 Pathways Center 'Art of Positive Behavioral Interventions' will be offer twice in January 2009 Pathways workshops will train parents of youth with developmental disabilities and their service providers in the art of positive behavioral interventions and supports. Featured Speaker is Dr. Joe Reichle, University of Minnesota and national expert in the communicative nature of challenging behavior These FREE workshops will include a $50 stipend for parents of children and young adults with developmental disabilities to attend. Paul Thissen Chair of MN Health & Human Services policy Committee  After lunch we heard MN Health & Human Services omnibus bill This is a collaborative event between On Eagles Wings [funded by the Minnesota Governor's Council on DD], Pathways Advisory Committee, Pathways Youth Center & Jordan New Life Family Support 360 7.29.08 Advisory Committee Meeting Members planned 9.6.08 'Get out the Vote activity' Youth as part of a collaborative effort with North Minneapolis Agencies registered 75 voters in North Minneapolis Members reviewed all Center outcomes Members talked about the Administration on Developmental Disabilities Technical Assistance Institute in Washington D.C. Members had pizza and dancing after the meeting Mentoring Emerging Leaders   MN Partners in Policymaking Ò   graduates Regina, Sammy and Eric are graduates from Pathways Leadership Training & On Eagles Wings Heather, Leah and Kenneth are currently attending Partners.  of Directors Workshops designed for parents of youth & emerging leaders with DD and their service providers Communicative Nature of Challenging Behavior.  We had 30 participants for the two workshops on challenging behavior including parents, professionals and advocates.
